I have GE double wall oven JK5500SF3SS, BOTH of the ovens heat up perfectly during the Pre Heat cycle. The cycle turns to Bake and the hidden elements no longer produce heat. After the preheat temp is reached, the display temperature number stays the same but the true oven temperature drops.
If I hit cancel and then bake with a temperature the oven starts the preheat again and shows the correct lower temperature and again reaches correct temp and the number stays the same but again the true temp drops. I tested one thermostat and it reads 1.067 K. I find it hard to believe that both ovens have a bad heating element, is this possible? If it is the element, how is it removed?
I removed the door and front metal plate and there is white insulation where the element might be, but not sure what to do at this point, does it need to be removed from wall? I tried turning breaker off and back on. I don't know the history of this oven, except it is installed in my kitchen and I never saw it work correctly. Thanks for your help.
