My buddy called me and said he was getting an error on his GE wall oven again. He said previously he had repaired it himself by researching the error code and replacing the temperature probe. Now it's done it again and when he pulled the old probe out of the hole the connection was melted. I've not run into this problem before so i'd like to know the best course of action. Can you get that piece of the wiring harness to replace? Or just wire nut it on in the back? I wonder if the reason it melted is because when he replaced it before the insulation didn't go back properly and the connection was to close to the oven cavity. This thing is a big heavy double wall oven and whatever the repair calls for I have a feeling I'll be over there helping him pull it out of the hole.

Probably not.

I'd suggest ceramic wire nuts.

That would be my guess.
