• ** REMEMBER! **The microwave can still shock you even unplugged!!

ALWAYS discharge the high-voltage capacitor first if you even think your hands will come close to any HIGH VOLTAGE components.

Jeff mentions this: Anything in the high voltage ( magnetron, capacitor, diode, wires to and from ):
...Use a metal ( not the shiny chrome type ) screw driver with a insulated handle to short across ( touch both at the same time ) the terminals of the high voltage capacitor to discharge it.

Microwave JVM3670SK06 all of a sudden stopped heating. Also noticed that when you open the door, the interior fan (cooling?) starts as well as the interior light. Close the door, and the light and fan turns off.

After several hours, it started working again, until the following day when it experienced the same issue.

Any ideas as to where to start troubleshooting this? It's a family member, and the problem not heating just started. But not sure the fan going on when the door is opened is something new or even if it was by design.

Close to 10 years old so may bite the bullet and get a new one...

TIA.

Hi,

Microwave all of a sudden stopped heating

How?
Stopped running but the clock was counting down?

Also noticed that when you open the door, the interior fan (cooling?) starts as well as the interior light. Close the door, and the light and fan turns off.

Should check the door switches, door switches wires, door switch mechanism and door key.
