Hello,

I want to thank you in advance to anyone who can shed some light on this!

I bought a used fridge about a month and a half ago. After having it plugged in and running for around 3 weeks it randomly stopped cooling the fridge and freezer. All lights were operating but compressor was not running. I unplugged the unit, plugged it back in, and bam it was working like a charm. Now fast forward to a few days ago and same thing! Unit stopped cooling, all food started to defrost, and quickly resolved by unplugging and plugging back in. I saw one thread about similar issues that turned out to be the control board but have also seen a variety of others talking about different issues. I am mechanically inclined so I would like to fix it myself although I know nothing about appliances and not sure where to start. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

You say the compressor is not running, are the fans running? If the fans are running check for 120 VAC at the compressor. If the fans are not running, here's the part you need:
