I've seen some pasts post on here that describe the two series LED circuits (one circuit for all of the lights in the freezer + one in the fridge, one circuit for the remaining lights in the fridge) in these refrigerators. Because the LEDs are in series, when one LED goes out the entire circuit will go down.

Based on these threads, I've successfully replaced an LED and the circuit recovered, but only for a short while. A few weeks later, a different LED in the same circuit went out and I successfully replaced that.

Now, a third LED in the same circuit has gone out. Should I keep replacing LEDs in this manner or is there something else causing these LEDs to keep going out? What is my next step to debug?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi, there is a service bulletin on this issue, and your model is effected as well.

I posted it in post #2 here:
Correction:
--->S-code S84638 covers the cost of 12 replacement lights and labor.
--->The quality improvement is a direct replacement with better illumination patterns, color temperature, and brightness.
--->Important: Replace all original single-point LEDs in the product - with the new multipoint LEDs, part number W11484836.

Contact KitchenAid at 800-422-1230 to come out and do this for you for free.

Let us know how it goes, if you could please.:)

Thanks, Jake! You seem to be the expert on this topic.

Was just on the phone with KitchenAid for over an hour (mostly on hold). Had to talk to 3 representatives before I got to one that could look up the Technical Service Pointer.

They scheduled me for a service call next Wednesday and said costs should be covered by them. Will update here with the outcome.

Thanks again!

Appliance repair company came to my house a few weeks ago and replaced all 12 lights at no cost to me.

The lights are definitely a different model than the originals, with a translucent cover instead of a transparent one. No issues with them so far!

Thanks so much for the service bulletin. It was extremely helpful to be able to point to it at each step of the process.
