Hi Team,

I replaced my disposal today and the dishwasher would not drain. Found the problem with the disposal (I had to remove a cap stuck in the dishwasher drain hose) and figured I was good to go.

However, I am now getting an F8 E4 error, which I looked up and it is an "overfill/ float switch open error."

Tried resetting it, draining it, etc. All was good this morning before I replaced the disposal, so I am guessing its inability to drain earlier wreaked some havoc.

Any ideas?

Thanks so much!
Michael

Hi,

W11366142b isn't a model number, that's a part number.

The model number tag is located inside the door on the tub frame.

Argh, you are very right. I pulled that off the manual. Ok, here is the correct one:
KDTM604KPS0

Thanks for your help!

Thanks Michael!

I'm attaching your tech. data sheet below. DO--->ACTIVATING SERVICE DIAGNOSTIC MODE
Press any 3 keys (except Delay, or Cancel) in the sequence 1-2-3, 1-2-3, 1-2-3 with no more than 1 second between key presses. All LED’s will illuminate if successful.
Press key 2 and shut the door to start the Service Diagnostics cycle.
Invoking Service Diagnostics clears all status and last run information from memory and restores defaults. It also forces the next cycle to be a sensor calibration cycle.
All LEDs turn on immediately upon receiving entry sequence (even if door is open) as a display test. A tone may play depending on the model.

Let it run through till its done.

If the error code is still present, then look at SERVICE DIAGNOSTIC MODE MENU TABLE. It shows you how to clear that error code.

Let us know how it goes.

Thank you for your help, Jake.

I followed your steps and the error code still comes up. According to the tech specs, I have an: overfill/ float switch open.

What is the best way to close that switch maybe? The dishwasher has no water in it, so I figure it is not overfilled?

Just a reminder that all was working great unit I replaced my disposal and the dishwasher would not drain. Found the problem with the disposal (I had to remove a cap stuck in the dishwasher drain hose) and figured I was good to go
Thanks,

Michael

Did you do this too--->If the error code is still present, then look at SERVICE DIAGNOSTIC MODE MENU TABLE. It shows you how to clear that error code.

Here's your service manual: https://drive.google.com/file/d/16JlVUq65LUiZdSpsIJJqAnEAS7sDAYHL/view?usp=sharing Look on page 41, then page 45 tells how to check the float switch(aka Overfill Switch Circuit).

Test Procedure
1. Verify water supply is turned on and supply line is adequate.
Check for water siphoning out of the dishwasher (drain loop or improper drain connection). Check for debris in water line or fill valve inlet screen. Check for proper float switch operation. Repair as necessary.

Here's the float switch for your model: W11545764

Here's the video of where its located:

That was awesome! There was water in the catch and the float was shutting off the system. This video showed me how to get in there. SO helpful. Thank you. Saved me a few hundred bucks in a service call for sure.

All fixed. Do I mark it fixed or do you all?

Excellent Michael, good job, glad that was it.(y)

Thanks for the update!

I will mark it FIXED for you.:)
