Drum turns and heat is produced when holding start button.
As soon as start button is released, dryer stops. Also happens when dryer is on air dry setting.
Motor is newer, was replaced within the year.
Could this be a relay? Motor relay?

On models with an electronic dryness control such a symptom could be caused by a defective motor relay or electronic control itself however yours is a simple dryer design that doesn't have that feature. The only thing on yours I can see that could cause that problem is an internal fault in the timer.

The timer likely needs to be replaced to correct the problem.

I had a difficult time finding the wiring schematics for it, so I’m curious do you (or anyone else) happen to know which terminal I could test on the timer to confirm the timer is bad?
Would like to test and confirm before ordering.

As did I. It's too old and/or limited to too few models (ie unpopular) and not online AFAIK. There should be one in the machine though. Look for and check it for the timer's motor circuit contacts.

PS. If you find it, maybe you can scan it and upload a copy in case others come looking for it one day too?
