When you press the reset button and watch the ice maker - it correctly flips the tray cube emptying the ice, turns the tray back to the upright position and then the water turns on and fills the tray to the very top, and then over the top for another second or two. Then the water shuts off. The ice eventually freezes and then it empties a single block of ice because the water is filled over the top of the individual tray separators.

I found a post that stated this means the ice maker assembly is bad and is sending the signal to the water valve for a couple of seconds too long. That made sense since the valve does operate correctly - it opens and it closes completely - it's just that the open cycle is too long. However after replacing the complete ice maker assembly in the freezer drawer and pressing the reset button to test - the exact same thing happened. Then I opened the old ice maker's "gear box" expecting to find either an adjustment screw to set the water cycle length or some type of switch or sensor that might trigger a signal to the water valve, solenoid or circuit board in the base of the fridge. However there was only a little electric motor and gears with one or two mechanical which appear to only turn off the ice maker when the the ice level arm is raised.

Is there a water level adjustment in the rear or base of the fridge? The parts vendors show a complete water valve assembly 60154-0004502-02 as well as three part that appear to be individual parts of the assembly - Water flow sensor 60148-001701-00, Water inlet vale 60154-0004600-00 and harness valve 60127-0018401-00.

Does the valve assembly control both turning the water to the ice maker on/off and the length of time the water valve stays open - or is there another sensor that manages the amount of time the valve stays open?

Kenmore 111 models are made by Daewoo. I've never been trained or worked on any Daewoo appliances, so I'm not able to assist you on this one. Hopefully a Sears Tech that works on these "DAY IN and DAY OUT" can shed some light on this for you.

Only Sears sells the parts for this machine: searspartsdirect.com/model/5iq7nubcuk-000582/kenmore-11173025711-parts
