My Kenmore 665-15777990 won't drain. I have checked for kinks in the hose, loose connections, and blockage on the screen. About 4 months ago I had a similar problem and called Kenmore and they told me to jiggle the overfill protection float. That cleared up the problem, although that is not working now. This unit was installed and used pretty much daily for at least the last 3 years. Can anyone suggest a fix or what may be causing the problem. Also if anyone can tell me what the life expectancy is on these units and what the merits of repairing or buying new would be? Forgot to mention that when I depress the cancel/drain button on the panel, I hear a click several seconds elapses and then I hear another click coming from behind the lower panel. I took off the panel but can't seem to tell where the click comes from.

Hi,

The most common draining problems with this model come from the check valve that connects the drain hose to the outlet of the motor/pump assembly.

Its a 3 or 4 inch plastic piece where the drain hose connects to the pump. Its in that bottom access panel. Un-clamp the drain hose from that check valve, then unscrew the check valve, I find lots of stuff that can block that.

Here is a picture of it:

Hope that helps,

Jake:

thanks for the reply, I tried what you suggested and removed the check valve. I had a pan ready to check the water and emptied it. I then attempted to run a cycle, water filled like normal but again I heard a relay type noise and the cycle failed to start. I could not get it to empty either, got the same type of clicking noise. Could this be a motor issue. Thanks again.

Yes, it could be a motor issue, something stuck in the pump impeller, bad motor relay.

Jeff1 has a webpage that is very detailed that could help you more:

Good Luck,
