• ** REMEMBER! **The microwave can still shock you even unplugged!!

ALWAYS discharge the high-voltage capacitor first if you even think your hands will come close to any HIGH VOLTAGE components.

Jeff mentions this: Anything in the high voltage ( magnetron, capacitor, diode, wires to and from ):
...Use a metal ( not the shiny chrome type ) screw driver with a insulated handle to short across ( touch both at the same time ) the terminals of the high voltage capacitor to discharge it.

Hi,

My 2 yr old Kenmore 790.80323310 Over the Range Microwave has suddenly stopped heating food. Not sure what happened. The lights and vent still work. Any ideas what went wrong?

Thanks,

swb128

That's not a model number. Read it from the model tag on the machine. Kenmore model numbers look like XXX.xxxxxxxx

OK, Remove power from the machine. Check the door switches for continuity with your meter. Check them by opening and closing the door. Don't push the buttons on the switch. Check the TCO on the mag tube for continuity. Start a one minute high heat cook cycle and check for 120 VAC to the primary side of the transformer.
