Hello,

I have a Kenmore Coldspot 106.58726800 that isn't cooling. The fridge is a stainless steel side by side with ice maker. I received it for free from a guy that said the fridge wouldn't cool after a power outage. I assumed the problem was most likely the starter relay. I have purchased a new starter relay and have had it in for 2 days now, but the fridge is still not cooling. I'm pretty sure the compressor is running. I have tried the screwdriver to compressor trick and heard it running. I'm not really sure where to go from here to get the fridge cooling again. I have tried cutting the compressor off by turning the thermostat all the way down for a little bit and moving it back up to cold. The compressor cut off and on but still didn't cool. Any advice on where to go from here would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

If the compressor is running and there is no cooling taking place, there's a problem with the sealed system. It could be the compressor is inefficient, a system restriction, or a refrigerant shortage (leak). The only way to tell the exact problem is by connecting a set of refrigeration gauges to the system. Sealed system repairs are expensive and will often exceed the machines value.
