A bit of troubleshooting has determined that the start relay on my 1987 Coldspot has seen better days. I ordered the Supco RO81 to use as replacement.

This model freezer had the start relay plus a separate overload that nests against the compressor. (I tried different sources for original OEM parts to make this easy, but they are no longer made apparently).

So my newbie, techie-challenged question is, what is the correct way to install this Supco part? Will the existing overload still be needed? What wires go to what? Drawings and photos would be great, as I'm a visual learner most days.

This is the replacement for your relay and overload:

Here's the instructions for it: https://s3.amazonaws.com/sm-backend-production-attachments/instructionsheet-819093-reve.pdf

I'm not sure if the RO81 will work on your model:

Thank you SO much for your reply and those links. I'll see how far I get with this endeavor, lol. Appreciate the help.

Ok sounds good, also here is a video for that RO81
