FIXED Kenmore Coldspot SxS Dead After Power Blackout

I have a Kenmore Elite Coldspot Side-by-Side Refrigerator/Freezer 106.44423600.

After a recent power blackout, we noticed the fridge and freezer are no longer cold and the LED control panel is completely dead (displays nothing and does not respond to any button pushes). The inside lights still work and the water dispenser still works. No sounds of a fan or compressor can be heard at all.

A repairman came out and suggested I replace the main controller board with the Sears part # (WPL 2307037 CNTRLELEC). This had no effect -- the LED is still completely off, no cooling, and no fan/compressor noise.

Any suggestions?

(I am thinking a power surge during the blackout since several other houses on the block lost appliances.)

Its likely You will need the compressor control board assembly, here's the one for your model you can order here:

Its fairly easy to change. Its #19 here:

Pull your refrigerator out from the wall, then remove the lower back access panel, It should be on the right side in the box cover#6 above. Just unplug your refrigerator first, then take the box cover screws off, then you will see that board, just remove the electrical connectors to it and install the new board, putting the connectors in the exact same place as they came off the old board.

Then put everything back together.
