Hi there. The dishwasher stopped working and presented with the clean light 7 blink cycle that I've since come to learn indicates an issue with heating. I checked the heating element with a multimeter and it didn't register at all so I replaced it. But after reassembly I'm still presented with the very same clean light 7 blink cycle, and nothing I do in terms of trying to reset it works. Any suggestions on next steps that would stand a fair chance of success would be greatly appreciated! Sure seems like something that should be "fixable", whether it's a thermostat or even the control panel - I'd hate to see an appliance end up in the landfill prematurely. Just seems a little coincidental that I had a bad heating element AND something else at the same time?

Thanks. I'm tempted to try replacing the thermostat and / or the control panel, but it just seems a little coincidental that I'd have 2 or more related problems at the same time, as the heating element was definitely bad (per multimeter) and has since been replaced.

Happens lots of time

I'm tempted to try replacing the thermostat and / or the control panel

I'd try key dance talked about to see if anything will reset.

Thanks. Yea, I tried that key dance sequence before and after replacing the heating element, and again just now to be sure - no change. Clean light still blinks in 7 blink cycle.

Frustrating that after replacing an obviously bad heating element I find myself in the exact same spot as before with a 7 blink cycle clean light that I can't reset.

I'm really trying to avoid sending this dishwasher to the landfill prematurely - anyone have any suggestions? Does it make any (much) sense to also try replacing the thermostat? Does it make any (much) sense to also try replacing the control board (but that's probably near 1/2 the price of a new dishwasher, and have no guarantees of getting this one to work, so...)?

Thermistor/thermostat is simple and not overly expensive to try.....but the board is different as when we get 50% of the cost of a new unit we suggest replacing rather than repairing.

And also sorry, but are the words "thermistor" and "thermostat" interchangeable in this context, or are they referring to 2 different things?

Thermostat just opens and closes for the most part. A thermister style thermostat changes resistance to tell the board what is happening.
