I have a Kenmore Ultra Wash, Model 665-15595792. My dishwasher started to not wash the dishes on the regular cycle a short time ago and then only wash on the Pots and Pans cycle. Now the only cycle that will work is the rinse cycle. The problem specifically is, the machine will not fill up with water during the wash cycles anymore. It still gets very hot inside the dishwwasher and trys to dispense the soap, but then stays on. Why do I only get water on the quick rinse cylce and no water on the wash cycles?

Hi,

Sounds like either a timer or selector switch problem.

No matter what button on the selector switch you push, it all does the same?

I rarely see selector switches go bad, I replace more timers on dishwashers.

The Timer Part#3379500 is about $65.00

No matter what button I push on the selector, it doesn't work.

I am a do it youself person, but I have not tackled a dishwasher before, is this something I could do myself, where is it located? I am assuming in the door.

I'd first check to cpmfirm if the water valve was getting power or not. Not filling could just be caused by a flaky water valve if it was getting power but not opening to let water through.

You can read about the water valves used on appliances at the following link:

LINK > How do I test a water fill valve?

BTW. The water valve on a dishwasher will be located in the motor compartment at the bottom of the dishwasher.

PS. When water valves fail, they can sometimes still work intermittently.

JFYI
