I think this unit has always been slow to heat but now it takes 1 hour+ to heat to 350 if it even gets to 350. Some posts said the glow bar needs replaced but that was for a different model. Is mine the same?

I just turned it on and waited a full minute and I didn't see or hear any reaction from within. : )

Does the ignitor glow red? The oven ignitor is beneath the oven bottom panel. Try removing that panel and seeing what happens when turned ON. You can see how to removed the oven bottom in this video.

(The 'flame spreader' panel below that oven bottom panel might have to be removed as well to see the ignitor beneath it, glow but might be visible with just the oven bottom panel removed.)

The oven gas burner should ignite into flame within a minute or so of the ignitor glowing. If the ignitor IS glowing but the fame is NOT starting quick enough, the ignitor is likely 'weak' with age and need to be replaced.

If the ignitor doesn't even glow, there may be other problems.

I have glow but no light. I am ordering the ignitor.

It's a frequent failure component. It could need to be replaced 2-3 times over the lifetime of the product under normal operating conditions. At least it's a pretty simple repair.

I ordered the part and it doesn't appear to connect the way the one that is already installed connects. On the current ignitor, there is a short wire and a long wire. They are both pictured in the [jptps be;pw/ Neither of them has a simple wirenut to connect to the rest of the unit. Ideas? Is this the wrong part? I ordered the one you sent a link to. Thanks!

Did it not come with an instruction sheet?

That ignitor is a service replacement meant to be used in place of many different originals. The existing wires need to be cut, stripped a bit and joined together with the new ignitor's wiring using ceramic wire nuts. Often those wire nuts come in the ignitor package. If they didn't come in your case they'll have to be purchased separately.

A local hardware store might sell them as well. They need to be ceramic due to the temperatures in that area, unlike the plastic ones shown in the video which would melt.

Ok. Thanks. I'm familiar with wirenuts but I don't see any way to convert this piece to the kids of connections that are needed on my unit. I guess I'll just return it. Thanks.

I don't know what you mean. Where is the ignitor on all your pictures? That's where the wiring would usually be spliced and joined, the wiring at the ignitor. You're just joining the original ignitor wire (after being cut) to the replacement ignitor's wires using the wire nuts. All other connectors stay where they are.

Got it. My ignitor is in the oven (obviously: ) and the wires are all below in the drawer (kinda hard to access). There is very little slack in the first wire but the other one has plenty of length for splicing. So in my understanding, I would cut the existing wires just inside the drawer (right below the oven) and splice them into the new wires. Basically ignoring all the other connectors that are happening down below. The wirenuts included do not seem to be ceramic --seem plastic to me -- since it's in the drawer and not the oven do you think I can still use them?

Sound right? (and, thank you!)

You can cut and join the wiring wherever convenient.

I'm surprised, however, if there are other plastic connectors in that area, plastic wire nuts should be Ok there too.
