My refridgerator is: Sears Kenmore, model: 795.74015411

My problem is the refridgerator and freezer is not cold. In fact, I'd say it's at room temp. Here is what I know.

1) Coils not cold. No ice or water on them. Looks like they haven't been cold for days.
2) Both the water filter and air filter said "replace" and they were replaced, and warning was reset. But I don't think that turns my cold off.
3) The two fans that take air from and to the refridgerator section, are both running. I checked by closing the door. When I opened the door. The fans were running.
4) I have checked the compressor fan, and after powering the fridge, it does begin to run.
5) I placed my hand on the compressor, and after a number of seconds after fan starts, I can feel the compressor turn on and running.
6) All of this tells me, everything seems to be working normally. And I assume since the compressor starts, the start relay is working. But my fridge is not cooling.

* My first thought was, is maybe the timer is stuck in the defrost point. But I can't find the timer. Where is it located in this model refridgerator?

* My
2nd thought was, if the compressor is running, shouldn't the freezer be cold, even if stuck in defrost? Or does the compressor have two modes, while running?

* My third thought was, maybe the compressor is bad. But isn't there a blue light on the control board that turns blue, if something is wrong with the compressor? No blue light.
s
What I don't know:
1) Should the compressor be loud? I mean, I can't hear it. I can only feel it running.
2) Can the compressor be running, but not making it cold, if stuck in defrost mode? Or should the defrost mode, turn off the compressor completely? It's not making cold, but seems to be running.
3) Where is the defrost timer located, in this model refridgerator? I have checked the compartment where the compressor is located. The compartment with the controller and can't find it.

My Conclusion: The timer may be stuck in defrost, OR my compressor might be bad (i.e. no freon).

What do you think? What can cause the refridgerator to not cool, if all the fans are working, the compressor SEEMS to be working?

A problem that came up after I inspected the compressor start relay.
I can't get it reconnected. The connector is 3 inline contacts (see gray connector below. It's not triangle orientation). And there are only 2 wires to this connector (red and black). My actual connector pins on the compressor have a triangle pattern. So obviously my 2 connected pins, on the connector, can only mate with two of the pins on the compressor.

Is it worth replacing this start relay, even though the compressor seems to be running? Could that still be my problem, even if the compressor is running? (maybe not running like it should be)

Thanks,

Small correction: I said

I'm not really sure what this is. I've seen some call this a Start Relay and others call it an Overload Protector. The fact the compressor keeps running, seems to suggest this is ok, however. But I wonder if it can cause my problem?

And I found how it's installed. It's counter intuitive, as it's got two ways of connecting. I used the contacts on the side and it meshes well with the compressor connector.

Still need to know what my original problem might be.

I guess if I'm going to try and repair my refrigerator, I should probably learn to spell it. :)

Yes spell check is a lifesaver.:)

Since the compressor is running and you are getting no cooling that indicates--->You have a faulty compressor, this is very common for the Kenmore 795 models made by LG, Contact Sears at 1-800-469-4663 and check your warranty for a new compressor install, under your SEALED STYSTEM WARRANTY.

Your Sears Kenmore 795 is made by LG and they are known for compressor failures within 5 years.

I was afraid that might be the answer. Hopefully a new compressor will last longer. I'm sure this is past 5 years. But I'll check to be sure.

Does this mean a new compressor but possibly refilling with freon?

Usually they replace the compressor and filter drier, a recharge it with freon, Also they install a new main control board on it with better software to keep this from happening again.

Thanks, I have an appointment scheduled for the 13th. I'll post the outcome.

Ok, sounds good.
