Unit is ten years old. Will start a cycle - with a drain, fill, and eventually the soap door opening - but never washes. Clicks, occasionally will drain, but won't start cleaning and it will remain in this status while red light is solid forever. If door is opened, cycle cancelled, restarted, after one out of every ten attempts it will complete a cycle as normal.

Have replaced door latch, switch and control board. I've cleaned out as much as I can without taking out the pump - can't figure out where to get at the chopper. I've also checked wiring underneath thinking a loose connection may cause this type of inconsistency. I have a pump on the way - it's expensive - and have read some discussions of the vent fan causing this.

I can't find any similar issues with this particular model. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Yes, It's most likely a bad wash motor, this has become a common problem as of late, many members here have reported the same. In fact I had 2 in Sept. 2018 in Parker, Arizona that did the exact same thing, and the new wash motor fixed them both.:)

Look at post #7 here: FIXED 665.13472N411 What to check on why it only washes about 5% of the cycle.

I'd first check to see if your getting 120 volts to the wash motor when it should be in the wash cycle.

Take the wire connector off the wash motor and use a multimeter to see if yours is getting 120 volts when it should be washing, if so and it's not running order the wash motor below.

Here is the wash motor assembly you can order:

Let us know what you find.

Thank you. Assuming this does the trick - and I will update after I've replaced it - is there any recurring maintenance we can do to prevent this from happening again? We have had a recent glass break, so I'm thinking it's related. The challenge for this particular model is that I can't easily get to the chopper without taking out the entire pump assembly. Or I haven't been able to locate how-tos using this pump model.

This model doesn't use that old style chopper. It self-contained in the wash motor.

Since you mentioned the broken glass, if you are getting 120 volts to the wash motor feel if its humming, if so, you just may have a piece of broken glass into it, causes the wash motor not to run.

Also check the filter. The video is in the part link to show you how to remove/check-clean/replace the filter.

This video shows you how to remove and replace the sump assembly:

The difference between that video and yours, yours will come with the wash motor already mounted into the sump assembly. You just need to remove the diverter motor from the old sump assembly to the new wash motor sump assembly.

Jake - The new pump did the trick - thank you! Because I was curious about why it failed, I pulled off the hose to check for blockage. A plunger thing popped out - is that the source of a block that caused the intermittent operation? Although it doesn't look like it belongs anywhere in there, I'm not sure. Perhaps I'll save the pump for the next time...

Thanks for the update!

I don't know if that plunger is suppose to be in there or not, never seen anything that big get through the filter.:)
