FIXED Kenmore Elite Dryer 110.85872400 beeps but does not start

Kenmore Elite HE4 Dyer 110.85872400 is not starting, when Start is pushed it beeps and we hear a click but that's it.

Steps taken:
Ran Diagnostic Mode: all tests passed, including opening and closing the door.
Checked continuity on thermal fuse, seems good. Also directly connected fuse terminals, bypassing fuse, no luck.
Measured resistance across P1-3 and P1-4: 1.7 ohms, according to the tech sheet this means control electronics need to be replaced?
Also measured voltage across P1-5 and P1-2, as well as another pin that I forget at the moment but was based on steps found on this forum, both read 125VAC.

Disconnect power to your dryer, then check the broken belt switch for continuity.

If the broken belt switch ohms good, then yes the control board is the culprit, but its been discontinued:
WP8546219 Control Board

Thanks Jake, I need to pull off the drum assembly to reach the switch? I was hoping to avoid that! ;-)

My dryer did the same thing. Turned out to be the DOOR SWITCH. The switch has two contacts in it like "points" in old cars. If you open the door to stop the dryer instead using the buttons to shut down, all of the voltage "arcs on those points" and stops the "continuity" and the dryer doesn't get the signal that the door is closed. It won't start! Look at the schematic and you'll see the switch in the upper right hand corner. The blue wire needs to make contact with the white wire. BTW, the switch is almost impossible to clean and reassemble....

But, thanks for letting us know it was the DOOR SWITCH on yours that was the problem.

This is how to test it below:

You will need a multimeter to ohm test the door switch.

Here's that door switch for this model:

There is a video in the door switch part link to show you how to access it to check/change it. Make sure your dryer is unplugged first before accessing it and ohm testing it!

Push the button in on the door switch with one meter probe on COM and the other meter probe on NO and see if it reads.
