I have a Kenmore Elite front loading washer Model 110.44832200. Has been running fine. Started a load this morning and when I returned to the washer, all lights are off, door is locked. Behaves like there is not power. Cannot open door.

Yes I have checked the breaker and circuit/outlet - all OK.

Advise on debugging and how to open the door to get the clothes out?

I have basic hand tools and multi-meter.

Thanks in advance!

I have removed the lower panel/pump cover and top panel. No obvious loose wiring. Are there fuses to check?

The power line filter module F 11.126/980-211 4619 702 01151that the power cord leads go to has voltage on the single black Load lead and the 2 pink leads with the green connector leading the module when plugged into the wall A/C power.
The yellow Neutral lead going from the cord to the power line filter module has no power on it when plugged in. Note - I assume this is the neutral/common lead. The 2 pink leads with the green connector are plugged into the main Central Control Unit module labeled 858070597100 310319218. There is no relay click when you plug the washer power cable in to the power source.

Per the documentation, I was able to manually unlock the washer door as follows:

  1. Unplug the power cord from the outlet.
  2. Remove the lower toe panel.
  3. Reach up along the inside of the front panel and locate the bottom of the door latch assembly.
  4. Located on the bottom of the door latch assemby is a tear-drop shaped tab.
  5. Gently pull the tab down about 1/4/" until a click is heard.
  6. The door may now be opened.

Hi,

I'd first ohm test the line filter for continuity, its located underneath your top panel.

Here is the online repair manual for the Kenmore HE3/Whirlpool Duet: Dropbox - Duet Job Aid.pdf
On Page 5-5 it tells you how to test the line filter.

Here's the line filter for your model you can order if needed:
WPW10367632 Filter

There is no relay click when you plug the washer power cable in to the power source.
If you line filter ohm tests good, Unplug your washer for 5 minutes then: Check for voltage going to Central Control Unit (CCU) by listening for a click in the CCU when unit is plugged in. If no click replace CCU.

Here's the CCU for your model:
285925 Electronic Control Board

Let us know what you find.

Jake:

Tested the line filter terminals A to B = 0 Ohms and C to D = 0 Ohms
Re-installed wiring for Line Filter and left washer unplugged for 10 minutes.
Restored A/C power, no audible click from CCU when A/C power is restored.
