Simply looking for information on the correct tubing/part to buy to replace the water line to the ice maker on my Kenmore Elite 795.79044.310 (bottom freezer) refrigerator/freezer. The line clogs and defrosting clears it for a few days but then it clogs again, so I'm pretty sure it's just the line, and don't want to buy the entire ice maker again.

Hi,

Did you test the water pressure from your supply line before it connects to the water inlet valve?

I always pull the refrigerator out from the wall, then turn the water off, remove the water supply line, then get a bucket or container to catch water in, test the water pressure from your supply line into the bucket, should have good water pressure force coming out, not a weak stream.

If your water pressure is fine, then its usually the water inlet valve that's the problem.

What happens is--->The diaphragm in the ice maker side of the water inlet valve is not closing completely and a small amount of water leaks past. When it gets to the ice maker, it freezes. When it builds enough ice it blocks the fill tube end of the water line.

Replace the water inlet valve and you should be good to go:

Thank you, we'll look at that. Pretty sure the water pressure is fine, but will test anyway before ordering the part.

Water pressure was fine. Received part, which also came with all the required tubing, but we only replaced the water inlet valve. Defrosted the freezer again for good measure before replacing the part. All seems well - we hear good ice making noises :) and so far hasn't stopped up again. Easy repair, except for having to sit on the floor lol.

Excellent lyw, glad to hear the new water inlet valve fixed it.

Thanks for the update!
