• ** REMEMBER! **The microwave can still shock you even unplugged!!

ALWAYS discharge the high-voltage capacitor first if you even think your hands will come close to any HIGH VOLTAGE components.

Jeff mentions this: Anything in the high voltage ( magnetron, capacitor, diode, wires to and from ):
...Use a metal ( not the shiny chrome type ) screw driver with a insulated handle to short across ( touch both at the same time ) the terminals of the high voltage capacitor to discharge it.

Hi!

Our Kenmore Elite combo wall microwave and oven microwave door hinge broke.

Kenmore Elite Wall Microwave and Oven door broken

The black hinge shown on the bottom right of this part broke: searspartsdirect.com/product/16xwmxwivg-0022-628/id-5304471512

I see no screws to get to this, so how would I go about replacing it? I tried JB Weld and had no luck: [Image 1](https://i.imgur.com/wEGUIpZ.jpg). [Image 2](https://i.imgur.com/qKtDGzY.jpg). [Image 3](https://i.imgur.com/jGvZysx.jpg)

That's the microwave door correct?

LINK > Kenmore 790.48903001 Inner Microwave Door panel

I've never worked on such a model and do not know the recommended procedures but going by the pictures and experience, it looks like the metal parts might just unhook from the inner panel. The actual hinge part might be able to be spread apart slightly until it cleared the hinge on the cabinet to allow it to separate from the oven body? Once one side is out, the other can be moved aside to clear that hinge.

If anyone has actual experience with this model maybe they offer their experience.

Awesome, so helpful. I got it off with a bit of a struggle.

I'm waiting for the part to come and we'll try to replace it.

Dan,

Hoping you can help one more time potentially, your first response was great. I ordered the part and replaced it, but now the cam is loose on one side.

So, there are two cams (hooks) 5304480640 with one on each side. Facing the microwave, the cam on the right in very spring loaded. The one on the left is just loose. Do you know if that left cam should be loose? It falls off the little protruding spot.

The parts list shows a spring on both sides. I can only imagine both sides are suppose to be sprung.

Was there tension on both sides when you removed the door?

Unfortunately, we don't know. I will say that the side without spring tension is the side where the metal piece was broken. It could have been that the spring gave which caused the metal to give. It works now, but it looks like it might be quite a hassle to get to where the spring was.

I recently had the same problem. The metal bracket shown in the last picture of you r first post cracked, but I was able to fix by adding a screw. But now the right side of the door is messed up and the door won't even close. Were you able to fix your door permanently?
