I have a Kenmore HE3t dryer, model 110.82826101, which we've had for around 15 years. The dryer was working well. A couple of weeks ago, I opened the door while the cycle was running and heard a small "thunk". After that, the dryer would not start. There is an audible click when the door is closed. When the start button is pressed, there is a click and a beep, but the dryer doesn't start.

I have replaced pretty much everything below the control panel (door switch, thermal fuse, thermistor, heating element, drive motor, blower wheel fan). I removed approximately one metric ton of lint from inside the dryer.

After doing all of that, the dryer is doing the exact same thing. I've inspected the control board and the control panel. There are no visible abnormalities.

Does anyone have any advice? Thanks so much!

Disconnect power to your dryer, then check the broken belt switch for continuity.

Here's the broken belt switch for your model:

There is a video included in the broken belt switch part link to show you how to access it.

Thank you. I'll try that. (Ugh...I am not looking forward to taking the entire thing apart again)

Yes, unfortunately you will need to, if that broken belt switch does not show continuity when the button is pressed on it, the dryer will never start.

I've now replaced the belt switch, the motor, both thermistors, both thermal fuses, the heating element, the belt, the blower wheel, and the control panel. It is the dryer of Theseus at this point, but it still does EXACTLY the same thing that it did when I started this project. I am totally at a loss.

When I select a cycle and press start, the dryer beeps, but does not start. If one cycle is selected and I attempt to select another cycle, I get three beeps. The timer runs down as if the dryer were running.

Is there anything else that I could be missing? Thank you!

Did you ohm test the door switch?

Look here:

This is how to test it below:

You will need a multimeter to ohm test the door switch.

Here's that door switch for this model:
Door Switch WP8283288

There is a video in the door switch part link to show you how to access it to check/change it. Make sure your dryer is unplugged first before accessing it and ohm testing it!

Push the button in on the door switch with one meter probe on COM and the other meter probe on NO and see if it reads.

If the door switch ohms good, then the control board is the culprit, but its been discontinued:

I'm sorry--I forgot to add that I replaced the door switch, too. I literally think I've replaced everything I can (except for the drum and the housing). The thing that confuses me is that the dryer has behaved the exact same way every time I've replaced something and reassembled it. From my perspective, it doesn't seem that I've found the thing that isn't working--but I've replaced everything.

I'm just stymied.

Then you have a broken wire, disconnect power to the dryer and check ALL your wires thoroughly, that's all it can be at this point.
