Hi Bubba Dave,

587.1618 is just a partial model number, we need the complete model number.

Read it from the model number tag, which is located inside the door on the tub frame.

Hi Jake, Now I know why I wasn't getting much information on the internet. The model number is 587.16188400. It looks like the control module or the door switch are common parts
that go out. I know how to test the door latch but how about the control module. How do you test the control module?

Thanks Bubba Dave!

After it fills with water you hear no sound at all? Not even a hum sound from the wash motor?

If you cancel/drain the cycle does it drain?

If it does neither then its the control module that's bad. But its out-of-stock everywhere and that is not a good sign, that usually means its been discontinued.

Here's the control module for your model:
154712101 Control Module

If the door switch was bad, it would not even attempt to fill with water.

Hi Jake,
The dishwasher drains when you push the cancel button. It is like it is missing the run step in the cycle. I'm going to test the latch which like you said is probably good. How about a hard reset. Will this help with the problem. I wasn't sure how to do this with this model.

Hi Jake, I manage to get it to run correctly by pulling the power plug and rotating the control knob. Good chance the control module is still bad. I will monitor and probably change the control module if it continues to not run correctly. Thanks for your help.

Yes Bubba Dave, that's what I was going to mention for the hard reset, pulling the power plug for 5 minutes.

So since that worked it would be a faulty control module.

Ordered what?

Its out-of-stock everywhere.

Your dishwasher is very old, it would make more sense to buy a new dishwasher and start over, yes?

I am fixing this one for my sister. The dishwasher hasn't been used much and still looks new. I am going to try a remanufacture part for now and if it doesn't work we will buy a new one.
Do you recommend any dishwasher over the other?
