Hi folks. One of the stove surface elements(hope I am using the right term) will heat but sometimes it will not. If I let things cool out and reset the element. It will heat and work fine but will issue will eventually return. The other three stoves have no issues.

Do I need to replace the surface element? replace the element receptacle/wire? or is it something else.

TIA.

Maybe. Someone will need to look at them.

It is a common problem with plug-in surface elements. You can read about the likely cause and what to inspect, at the following link.

LINK > Appliance411 FAQ: The surface elements on my range are intermittent. Can you tell me what's wrong?

These are the most suspect parts.

Thanks.

I swapped the two surface elements to see if it was a element or receptacle issue yesterday. Both seem to work fine now? I'll keep an eye on it.

Thanks again.

Did you inspect the element tips as described at the link I supplied?

If you plug a good element into a defective element block, that currently good element can become damaged. Plugging the damaged element into a good element receptacle can result in damage to that other element receptacle as well.

Instead of just having to replace 1 element and/or its terminal block you could end up having to replace 2 elements and 2 terminal blocks (or more if you move them around).

JFYI
