I have a Kenmore Elite 106.51173310 i bought used last year. The ice maker has never worked, although the water works fine. I finally decided to troubleshoot the issue. I went through the troubleshooting guide that has been posted in this forum before and decided that the ice maker itself was bad.

The wires at the bottom front are in good condition, no breaks, frays, or cracks. I have continuity from bottom of door to top of door. Inlet tube is clear. I wasn’t getting voltage even in diagnostic step 25. Although I wonder if it’s because I wasnt holding the switches down. In any case, ordered a new ice maker and installed the other day.

I am getting voltage there now and it will initiate a harvest, but the water will not fill from the tube. I checked the water valves and I’m not getting any voltage to the ice maker valve. The troubleshooting guide is unclear on what to do if there is no voltage at the valve. I’m guessing at this point it’s the UI, but not sure if there’s any other spot to check.

Did you remove the wire harness LOOM at the bottom of the freezer door to check for broken wires there too?

Yes. I didn’t take pics, but I completely removed the door, removed all white tape and pushed the loom back all the way into the door hole. No issues. i have been through that thread as well as a couple others. Ice maker is getting power, just the valve isn’t getting power.

I'm attaching your tech. data sheet below.

On the main control board--->120 Volts AC INPUT ice maker water valve P3-2 to P1-2.

When you do the ice maker fill test at step 25 you need to hold the door switches in and tape the right side optics(receiver) flapper closed(don't tape where the hole is on the flapper) and becareful not to put your arm in the optics beam path, that goes from the left side optics to the right side optics.

Remove the ice bucket to access the optics.

Step 25--->Digit 1 should read 1---->Ice Maker Valve ON.

Here's the main control board for your model:

At first, the step 25 diagnostic was showing the proper readings for the ice bin being in or not, flashing 01, then 02, and would change depending on whether the bin was in or not, but now it only flashes 00. I rechecked all wiring and had continuity on every wire from the bottom of the door to the top.

Wait, that was step 15, not 25. Step 25 flashes 00 normally, and 01 when calling for water, which is normal. Can’t get any reading for the ice maker valve.

I’m not 100% where the main control board is. The board you show is way too big to fit in the small white box pictured, so I’m wondering if it’s behind the screwed down panel. That panel is also stuck in place. It won’t come off easily.

Yes, its behind that screwed down panel. Remove the screws to it and it should come off.
