My top-loading washing machine makes a rhythmic squeaking noise during the wash cycle. After attempting to isolate the source of the noise, it is definitely coming from the bottom of the drum where the drive belt and motor are located. It is squealing in time with the pulsing of the motor and happens even when the machine isn't loaded.
It does not make this noise during any spin cycle, and I can not replicate the noise by manually turning the agitator. Given all this, I’m assuming the issue is with a brake/clutch, but I would love confirmation before shopping for a replacement. If that is the case, a link to the appropriate part and instructions for replacement would also be appreciated!
Thank you!
