Kenmore Window Air conditioner
Model 580.75124500
Capacitor Part Number 6120AR2359E

AC quit cooling. Fan would blow. Thermostat was ok. Checked Capacitor. One of the Black wires attached to the capacitor looked "burned/melted".
Removed the capacitor. I cannot find any place that has these in stock. Most sites say it is no longer available.

1. Are there other generic capacitors that will work? Markings say:
6/30mF 370/400V=50/60Hz
C22.2 No. 190
LR 79596 70 degrees C
Non PCB10000 AFC

2. Do you think replacing the capacitor will fix the problem? Other than a bad capacitor, is there another reason the black wire burned/melted?

Thanks.

I tested the capacitor and also I had it tested at an appliance parts store. The capacitor is bad. I’m having difficulty finding the part. I’ve checked local parts stores, various online parts stores, eBay, and Amazon but no luck. I was hoping to find an alternative part that would have the same specifications, but without a part number it is difficult to find.

Any help and suggestions would be appreciated. I hate to replace the unit just because I can’t find the capacitor.

Thanks

but without a part number
6120AR2359E is the part number. Any dual capacitor with these numbers (or close to) on it, 6/30 mF 370/400V=50/60Hz, will work. Anyone of these will work:
