I have a KitchenAid KGSA906PSS00 that I have had since late 2005. I am having trouble with the oven staying at the desired temperature. The oven will preheat and beep when at temp. I will hear the burner cycle and the igniter kick on as if it is trying to maintain the oven temp but the temp will drop while the display still reads desired temp. If I turn off the oven and turn it back on it starts the preheat again and will show the correct temp. If the desired temp is 400 and I restart the oven, the display will show 245 for example.

I measured the resistance at the gas valve from common to broil and common to bake and I get the 216 ohms. I took off the burner shield so I could watch the behavior of the igniter and I could see that the burner would ignite most of the time but there were times were it did not. The times where it did not ignite I could see spark from the igniter and I also smelled gas after the failed attempt. My oven is in good shape and is used very little.

Any ideas on what do do next would be great.

Thanks

Hi,

Its likely a bad bake igniter, seen this happen many times.

Here's the oven igniter assembly for your model you can order:
