Hi,

The pellet stays stuck often in its compartment. I think its because water gets inside before the door opens, which makes it sticky and prevent it to fall in the tub. Is it normal that the compartment is not watertight?

No, the hot water should wash it out as the machine is washing.

Do you run the hot water at the sink before you start the dishwasher? If not, your first batch of water will be lukewarm and it needs at least 120 degree hot water to dissolve that pellet while its in the wash cycle.
