Hello... My Kitchenaid dishwasher will not fill with water. I've been looking at all the obvious issues. I've replaced the inlet valve and the float switch. The float moves freely and I get the click. As it turns out, the valve and float switch I replaced were both good before replacement I've since confirmed using the continuity test. I know water is getting to the valve because I went to disconnect before turning off the under cabinet water supply valve and got a little spray in the process. I tested the door latch switch today and it gets continuity.

The dishwasher seem to try to go through cycles. I hear it as though it's running, but when I open it up it is bone dry inside. I plan on replacing the pump/motor assembly as I read that turned out to be someone else's water fill issue. When I run the diagnostic test I get the 6-2 code and 7-1. I realize I have ti replace the heating element (7-1), but can't figure out why it won't fill. Any pro suggestions or insight is appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, 6-2 is a water inlet valve problem.

You will need a multimeter.

When it DOESN'T fill with water, you will need to check for 120 volts at the electrical connector that attaches to the water inlet valve. If your meter DOESN'T read 120 volts when it should be filling, and your float and float switch are good then that indicates the control board isn't sending power to the water inlet valve, and you'd need a new control board.

Here's the control board for your model:

If you are getting 120 volts to the water inlet valve, turn the water supply off to the dishwasher underneath your sink, then take off the water line that connects to your water inlet valve and see if your screen is clogged up, thus not letting water come in the dishwasher.

Here's the water inlet valve for your model:

There is a video in that part link that shows you how to access the water inlet valve, see the water inlet valve screen in the photo above?

Excellent, glad to hear the new control board fixed it.(y)

Thanks for the update!
