Hello There Appliance Blog,
I have read through the stickies and searched the forum and made an attempt to isolate my issue the best I can. I need a little help to nail down the fault.
I have a freezer working great with a warm fridge. Ice maker in the door is working great. The fridge has the option to test thermistors, fans, etc through the test mode.
I have the following info to share:
1. I defrosted the unit. There is not blockage between the freezer and fridge
2. Service Test 01 RC Thermistor = 41
3. Service Test 02 FC Thermistor = 5
4. Service Test 03 RC Evaporator Thermistor = 75
5. Service Test 04 First FC Evaporator Thermistor = -16
6. Service Test 05 Pantry Thermistor = 39
7. Service Test 14 Door Ice Box Thermistor = 22
8. Service Test 16 Door Ice Maker Tray Thermistor = 11
9. Service Test 18 Second FC Evaporator Thermistor = -16
10. Service Test 42 Main Pantry Air Baffle State = Baffle is working
11. Service Test 56 FC Fan Test = Fan Turns On
12. Service Test 57 RC Fan Test = Fan Turns On
13. Service Test 58 Condenser Fan Test = Fan Turns On
14 Service Test 59 Ice Box Fan Test = Fan Turns On
Pin Voltages:
P8. P8-1 to P8-2 (5VDC) RC EVAP THERMISTOR OUTPUT = 1.5 - 5VDC (MAXIMUM) This reads 4.48V (Which I assume means it is working and warm)
P8. P8-3 to P8-4 (5VDC) FC EVAP OUT THERMISTOR OUTPUT = 1.5 - 5VDC (MAXIMUM) This reads 0V (which I assume means it is working and cold)
P14. P14-1 to P14-2 (12.7VDC) FC EVAP FAN OUTPUT This reads 12.6 volts when fan is on
P14. P14-3 to P14-4 (12.7VDC) RC EVAP FAN OUTPUT This reads 12.6 volts when fan is on
P5. P5-1 to P5-2 (5VDC) FC THERMISTOR OUTPUT = 1.5 - 5VDC (MAXIMUM) This reads 4.48V
P5. P5-3 to P5-4 (5VDC) RC THERMISTOR OUTPUT = 1.5 - 5VDC (MAXIMUM) This reads 0V
So it appears from Service Test 1 that the the temp on the RC thermistor is high at 41 and it is outputting 0V on P5 pin 3 to pin 4. When the RC fan is tested using service test 57, the RC fan comes on and runs strong.
To me this would indicate that the thermistor is bad and the fan is working. When forced to do so, the board is outputting 12.6 volts to the RC fan on P14 pin 3 to pin 4.
So, would you all agree with this assessment? If so, can I order this thermistor or do I fall in the group of folks that have to order the whole evap fan kit?
