I have a KitchenAid KSRS25ILBL02 side by side refrigerator and am having a problem with the freezer. The freezer is way to cold (measures -18 degrees) no matter what setting I use. The compressor does turn off periodically and the refrigerator is holding the right temps (i.e. diffuser seems to be working correctly).

I have also tried the diagnostics to check each of the thermistors and they are checking out ok.

I have had some issues with a plugged drain and the icemaker water line freezing but I think those were caused by the freezer running at a much colder temperature than normal. They have been since fixed with completely thawing out the whole frig for a day.

What are the next steps I need to take to trouble shoot the problem?

Thanks for the info. This part is around $155. Is this a common problem with these units? Just wanting to make sure this is the problem before spending the money on the parts.

thanks again.

Yes rodney its a common issue for the over freezing.

Yes rodney,

Here's the parts diagram with the control board in it #6:

Its located inside your console#1, just remove the #7 screws underneath it and it should drop down so you can remove it.

Unplug your refrigerator first.

Jake,

got the control board and installed it. Things seems to be working as expected but after 24 hours, the freezer is still saying -11 degrees and the refrigerator is around 37-38 deegrees. The settings are on 0 for the freezer and 37 for the frig.

Does it take longer than 24 hours to regulate the freezer?
thanks.

Yes, give it more time.

Jake

ok, the temperature has stabilized and hovers around -2 degrees in the freezer. Ice cream is much happier now that it is not frozen solid. Looks like the problems is corrected.

In the midst of all this, I believe the icemaker finally went out. I had been having problems with a freezing up due to the cold temps but when I opened it up, I found that the plastic gear had finally broken.

Went ahead and ordered a complete icemaker kit. Hopefully, that will fix things and I can get back to using a refrigerator like it is supposed to be used. :)

Yes, the new ice maker will fix it.:)

Glad the cooling temp. is normal again.:)

Got ice maker in today and installed it. How long should it take for the water to flow into the ice trays?

It has been in about 30 minutes and still no water. The optics seem to be working because when I open freezer door, I get the two red flashes, pause, two red flashes, pause, etc.

Any thoughts?

Give it a few hours.

Jake
