Have this standalone ice machine, approx 5-6 years old. has always work well. i'd know when it was time to run a clean cycle because the ice would start getting thin. after a clean cycle with Afresh cleaner and a new filter, she'd be fine and typical ice cubes were prob 5/8" thick. would be as good as new and could fill the bin back up overnight. i noticed after my most recent clean, the ice was thin and it struggled to even half-fill the bin.
when attempting to diagnose i noticed that when it would fill the water bin, it would run for almost 3 minutes. all the overflow would come down the drain and melt much of the ice at the bottom. i figured it was an easy fix by changing out the water fill sensor. sure enough, now it cuts off within 2 or 3 seconds of the bin being fill. fill problem solved... but - the ice is still thin.
well i googled and attempted a reset of the system by pressing on/clean for 5 seconds until the flashing LEDs... still no improvement (not confident that's the correct procedure for my model). seemed like it had some odd behavior, so i swapped out the control board. exact same thin ice (only about 1/4 thick). then i thought the water coming off the freeze plate wasn't getting enough recirculation from the pump... so i replaced the recirculation pump. also thoroughly cleaned the water distribution tube. nothing inside it. still same ice.
cleaned the fins in front of the coils. the fan appears to spin fine. ran another cycle of Afresh and replaced the filter which was only a month old... and that seemed to be a waste now also.
so long story short... i'm getting good at breaking it down to get to a part for replacement... haha. i've run multiple clean cycles, replaced many components which could have been suspect due to related dialog and threads i've seen throughout this forum (i'm sure many of you are shaking your heads - haha). dont know what else to try at this point. it makes ice, yes. but the ice coming off the freeze tray is not as thick i it used to be. any other ideas? thank you in advance!!!
