• ** REMEMBER! **The microwave can still shock you even unplugged!!

ALWAYS discharge the high-voltage capacitor first if you even think your hands will come close to any HIGH VOLTAGE components.

Jeff mentions this: Anything in the high voltage ( magnetron, capacitor, diode, wires to and from ):
...Use a metal ( not the shiny chrome type ) screw driver with a insulated handle to short across ( touch both at the same time ) the terminals of the high voltage capacitor to discharge it.

FIXED KitchenAid Microwave KMCS1016GSS0 control board source

atm1989, You better get the 3 pack deal. That way, maybe one will work. LOL. We've see nothing but problems when it comes to appliance parts from ebay and amazon. You'll probably get a good one. Just keep your fingers crossed. Go to the eBay page you linked in your last post and copy the address. Then go to fakespot.com and enter the address in the search field and see what shows up.

I'm having semi random intermittent display issues and frequent loss of some buttons working.

I've read the control board is the likely culprit, however none of the popular parts sites list a control board for this model.

I removed the board yesterday, and the part number is MD1001LB version M1.31

I found a board on eBay that is a different version number and I've ordered it, and it should arrive in about a week. I'm not sure it will work, but it wasn't much $$ and the seller said he'd accept a return if it didn't.

So, I'm wondering does any one have a source to order a control board for this microwave?

A pic of my board is attached, along with the model number tag.

Thanks in advance,

Dan
Question: I had the same problem. I got the new control board, but do I need to take the whole cover off to replace the control board? The bottom popped right out but it seems like there is a screw holding the top in. I thought the screws holding the cover in were torque screws but I could not get them off. Any directions would be greatly appreciated.

If I remember correctly, I removed the front panel with the board, and then removed the board from the front panel.

In addition to screws there are some plastic clips holding the board in place. One of mine cracked slightly, but the screws hold it in place just fine.

good luck.

So far so good for me after replacing the board.

I have been looking for part EMXAUWX-S1-K to fix this same issue without any luck. Can anyone point me to anyone selling this part online?

I have not seen any for some time. The replacement I installed in April 2021 is starting to have an intermittent issue again.

I am also having trouble with a KMCS1016GSS1 installed as a "built in". The keypad is intermittent, though the clock and "cancel" buttons seem to work correctly. I've cycled power (via breakers, because the actual plug is buried in the kitchen island which will need to be disassembled to get the blasted thing out) without any change in status.

I can't find anyone that is advertising a replacement control panel that matches this model number, and KA/WP will only fix with a service call - at which point I might as well replace. Any suggestions? I can order the board discussed above, I'm not concerned about working on the unit and/or dealing with discharging the cap; but is this the right move or should I do the entire panel? If so, does anyone have a parts sheet to help me find what I need?

[Adding...]
It's not hopeful when I try to go through the service call tool at KA, find that nothing can even start until 9/22, and see the following message:

I have the same problem with the exact same model. You reference a control board number. I'm trying to look for the Whirlpool part number for the control panel. By chance do you know what it is? On Ebay I found a control panel of W10719416, which the seller is also referencing W10727605, W10719416, and W10891019. Not sure of this number its interchangeable with this number. By chance do you have a model for the control panel rather than the control board number? Thanks I appreciate any and all clarification and assistance.

Hi, i seem to have the same problem and want to replace the control panel. I see 2 plastIc tabs on the bottom is that it? I also removed the torx screws for the cover and that didn’t seem to help either. How does that come off? Thanks, terry

Did you ever figure out what the Whirlpool or Kitchenaid part number for the control panel was? Having the same difficulty finding this part. There were a few websites but they were all sold out. (one seemed a bit sketchy too).

Same issues with my kitchen aid microwave. Trying to order a EMXAUWX-S1-K control board, but can’t find it in stock anywhere. If anyone knows where to get them, let me know.

If you feel that you have benefited from this site, and would like to show your appreciation.
