Good afternoon folks,

I recently purchased an open box Kitchenaid KRFC704FPS04. I've had the refrigerator for a few days now and everything works great with exception of the ice maker. I've followed another post on this forum trying to trouble shoot the issue. It simply looks like the water is not making it's way into the ice maker. The door water dispenser works fine, water pressure from the dispenser is good, water filter has been replaced.

I went into the diagnostic mode and run following tests:

#14 result: 22
#16 result: 32
#31 result: 2
#66 result: on
#79 result: 01 (ok)
#97 result: FF (I'm not sure about this one, does it mean off? no water making its way into the tray)
#115 result: 01
#120 result: PA

My best guess would be a faulty water valve, however if the water dispenser works, could that be an issue? Is there a separate valve for the ice maker alone? I don't see any sign of freezing at the water outlet located above the ice tray.

Thanks in advance !

You have a dual water inlet valve inside the refrigerator section, one side is for the water dispenser, the only side goes to the ice maker. See if you get 120 volts to it in TEST 97.

Here it is for your model:

Service Test - 97 Door Ice Maker Valve General Test
--->When entering service test, the Door Ice Maker Water Valve turns on for 7 seconds

Here's your tech. data sheet: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rROgQLycq9HU7hISCS7YS_dqp4RDe2iI/view?usp=sharing

I don't see FF, but it likely means Fresh Food ice maker, that's the ice maker in the refrigerator section.

Thanks for the answer Jake!
I went ahead last night and ordered the valve you mentioned above, before I even got to test the current valve. I figured it would save me a day or two getting this resolved. When I got back from work this afternoon I got to pull out the fridge with the intention of testing the valve and poking around. What I found however is a valve with a single hose connected to it. It's not a dual valve mentioned above. Is there a second hose, providing water to the ice maker completely missing? Or could there be another valve somewhere inside the fridge?

I'm attaching few pictures.

Thanks again Jake!
I've replaced the dual valve, run test #97 and got the water to fill the ice tray. I did however find bunch of ice at the bottom of the fridge, what made me question the heater. I came back after 4 hours and decided to run another test #97 and no more water is spilling into the ice tray.
I'm running test #66 to see if it will defrost the line, but it sounds like replacing filler tube heater will be my next step. Is there by any chance a manual or a video showing how it's done on this particular fridge? I'm having a hard time finding something helpful online.

Cheers!

Hi Jake!
Finally got the new fill tube assembly and installed it yesterday. Pretty easy job thanks to the manual you sent over.
I got back from work this afternoon to find a full bin of ice!
Thank you for your help!
Much appreciated
