FIXED KitchenAid Refrigerator KRMF706ESS00 - Freezer coils Iceing up

No, I sure don't know what causes the control board to fail.

Yes, that indicates you will need to order both the main control board and Motor-Evap W11249952
Jake ... how do I know if the main control board I purchase off of "applianceblog.com/parts" has been revised and corrected so the defrost issue will not occur again? Are there revision numbers, date codes, and/or other info that would indicate this?

Usually they update the revision number of the board and it should be on the new board.

Well yes ... one would assume ....but didn't answer my question ... what "is" the latest revision and how is it identified? (control board)

I don't know, I haven't installed this particular board as of yet on any of my local service calls.

Oh OK sorry ... I thought you were part of the parts group as well .. I'll have to call Whirlpool directly I suppose..

Unfortunately not. Yes you can contact Whirlpool.
Just a follow-up to this control board revision issue. Whirlpool's answer to my question was "..all their parts they sell are the latest.."
The parts representative I spoke to also indicated that there is not a way to identify the latest board by the board itself that he knew of.
I find this very hard to believe as all boards have a serial number on them as well as a revision letter printed on the circuit board.
I also asked ".. how do I know that the board I buy from them has had some of these historic/chronic issues resolved within them ..?"
I was told that parts division doesn't have or know this information .. but maybe their R&D group would ... !?

(btw... their price on the control board in question <AP6023728> cost from them is $439.00 which appears to be manuf. list price)

Jake ... I believe you indicated the incorrect Motor-Evap part W11249952 for the model KitchenAid Refer. (KRMF706ESS00 in this forum's subject title)
I entered the model number KRMF706ESS00 into the "check compatibility" on the parts ordering section and it indicated the part was NOT compatible! (see attached)
It appears the correct Motor-Evap part is: W11087438.
any input?

keeping the forum apprised .. I replaced (just) the FC Evap. fan and have held off on replacing the control board for the moment. I will see if this corrects the problem w/ FC coils icing up .. before I take the next step.

The only issue w/ the original Motor-Evap was that one of the Thermo fuses was bad (see earlier threads). After the FC Evap. assembly was replaced, control service code # 6 allowed the heating coil to warm up. This is why I'm holding off on replacing the control board for the moment.

Does someone have any info on what the specs are on the Thermo fuses used on the FC Evap. motor. Sure would prefer to replace the thermo-fuse only. But of course in this case the entire assembly needs to be purchased.

OK ... thx for the dbl. check and for the downloadable parts drawing.
Cheers
Your welcome.

Sounds good, I agree, hold off on replacing the control board for now, you have 365 days to return it for a full refund as long as you don't install it.

Sorry, I don't have it.

Let us know how it goes in the next day or so.:)

Bypassed the same thermal fuse, and it finally worked, technicians, repairmen and scouring these forums and I finally found the issue, 3 weeks later. Is there harm in just cutting out the thermal fuse?

Hi Chris_81 ... I considered the same thing .. just cutting out the fuse ... but also considered it is there for a reason (even though there are 2) The reason is likely to protect from "over heating the area for prolonged times as the heater gets pretty hot.
This is why I asked in one my earlier posts (#33) for the parameters or specs for the fuse so it can be replaced without having to purchase an entire Fan Evap. assembly.
I am going to call Whirlpool again to see if they can give specs on the 2 Thermo-Fuses.

Yes, its there to protect the defrost heater from overheating the evaporator coil, its not advisable to bypass it.

Do you think it will get hot even when not on its scheduled defrost? I think I'll go and disconnect it and let it frost up until I get the FC fan assembly installed in a few days

That I don't know, but it shouldn't if its not in a defrost cycle.

Ok, that sounds good.
