First, thank you for creating this place where we can share our issues with some very expensive KitchenAid appliances...I have found this to be my go to place for answers.
My subject refrigerator is less than three years old, and I've experienced the following problems, intermittently:
1. Does not make ice;
2. Water dispenser quits;
3. Temperature in both refrigerator and freezer rise above 40 and 25 degrees respectively

We first started noticing problems with the ice maker. I ran every test with no errors, and a day later the ice maker was working again. About a month later the ice maker stopped again, and after reading additional posts, decided to check freezer temperature (purchased a thermometer). Freezer temp read 25 degrees...not good. I unplugged the unit for about ten minutes, plugged it back in, and within a few hours, the freezer temp was back down to about 15 degrees (finished 12 hours later at -3).

The ice maker also resumed making ice. This on-again, off-again cycle has persisted for the past few months, with me unplugging the unit for ten minutes and then plugging back in. Each time, the refrigerator worked fine. Thinking there might be power surges, I purchased a whole-home surge protector.

Today, the water dispenser quit in the middle of dispensing water (less than 8 ounces), and the ice maker stopped dispensing ice. Returning home eight hours later, I noted the freezer temp was rising up to about 20 degrees, and the refrigerator temp was over 45. The ice was melting, and the water still did not dispense. Like before, I unplugged the unit, waited ten minutes, and plugged back in. That was three hours ago. Since then, the water dispenser is working again, the temp in the freezer has dropped ten degrees, and the refrigerator is getting back toward 40 degrees.

Since I emptied the ice maker, I will have to wait to report on whether ice is being made again.
From reading other posts, I've noted that the Pantry drawer UI has been linked to similar problems. I ran diagnostic tests and cycled through the drawer settings...all work as advertised. I have also not had any problems with the LED lights in either the freezer or the refrigerator.
What might you suggest is the problem or what other information can I provide?

Hi,

Usually that's caused by a faulty main control board. If it was the Pantry UI Board it wouldn't keep working even after you unplugged it from the wall outlet and plugged it back in.

Here's a similar thread and it uses the exact same control board yours does:
Here's the main control board for your model:

This video shows you how to access/replace it:

Thank you. Would there be any advantage to paying a tech to diagnose further? Since it works most of the time, my concern is that it will not be failing when the tech comes. Seems to me that if the board is the likely culprit, it might be better to save the $120 for the service call and just do it myself.

You can if you want, but its up to you.:)

I agree.:)

You can first try to unplug the DELI UI BOARD and leave it unplugged and see if it does the same thing or not.

Good morning, Jake - Like others, my pantry drawer controller is not working. Removed the board and everything underneath is dry and not corroded. Checked J1A-4 to J1A-1 (Orange to Black) and getting 12.76VDC, indicating to me that the power control board is functioning (replaced it about six months ago for ice maker and temperature issues). Since I'm getting the voltage to the board, is it safe to say the board itself is defective? Thanks.

Yes, but you should be getting 14 Volts DC. Did you check Orange to Black at the wire harness connector to the Pantry UI Board?

The reading I drew was from orange to black at the connector to the pantry UI board. I further checked the test points on the board. Each showed 5VDC. While I get your statement of the 14VDC, my Fluke is about 20 years old and hasn't been calibrated in that time, so unfluctuating 12.79VDC (my reading) is probably within the 10% calibration offset. Otherwise, I'd suspect you'd say the power control board is faulty, but as I previously stated, I just replaced it.
Regardless, my thermo in the drawer is reading 37 degrees and I'm not in the mood to shell out another $500+ for the Pantry UI board!

It has to be 14 VDC, CHECK your battery in your meter or get a new meter.

$500 for a UI Board is LIKE throwing money in the garbage if the new UI Board does not fix it, especially since your not getting 14 VDC. You see what I mean?

I do, but what is the alternative? The wires are good, and the feed comes from the control board. So I'm either throwing good money into that board or into the Pantry UI board. I've kept the old board (that caused intermittent problems with temperature and ice) and will reinstall to see if it is providing the extra 1.2VDC.

Wait, you may be ok with the 12.79VDC, I just located another thread about the 14 VDC and the problem was his wiring harness to the Pantry UI:

Here's the wire harness to it:

Thanks. Replacing the harness is an involved job. I think I'll ring the connectors, pin-to-pin from control board to pantry UI first. If they do not ohm out correctly, I'll replace. Also, the thread you linked troubleshot from no voltage at pantry UI board connector. I have the 12VDC at that point, and 5VDC logic at each UI test point. If the wires are good with resistance check, I'll slave in the old control board just to verify the 14VDC. If the voltage is the same as what I am currently reading (12.79VDC), I'll check the voltage with the UI board removed, just to ensure there is not a loading problem. Will keep you posted on what I discover.

See if this helps:Also the Freezer evaporator fan motor has known to to problem with loading down on this unit FYI
This is exactly what I needed, BB. I ran the test and it shows "Sabbath mode", but it will not reset by pressing the light and options buttons, so not sure if it is or is not in that mode. I have placed a thermometer in the pantry drawer and get a consistent 35 degrees, so not concerned about spoilage...just no lights or ability to change Pantry UI settings. Regardless, I will use your guide to troubleshoot voltages.
