Hi there,
I have a KitchenAid side by side model #KRSC503ESS which is about 5 year old. The Ice maker stopped working after I emptied and cleaned it. I called a technician who figured out a white wire below the freezer door had broken or come lose. He reattached the white wire and taped all the wires below the freezer door and ice maker has started working. I have no idea how the white wire under the freezer door had broken. I noticed the the wires move when you open the freezer door so maybe the white wire broke during the freezer door movement. It shouldn't happen but it's clearly a poor design by Whirlpool. Hope this helps.
