Water standing in ice tray but will not freeze. All ice cubes melted and ran onto the floor. Any help out there? Freezer compartment works great.

Hi Bill,

Someone might of left the freezer door open or ajar by accident for a long period of time, because the freezer cools great and the ice maker gets its cold air from the freezer directly.

If you have a freezer thermometer put it in the ice maker compartment and in two hours tells us what it reads.

Thanks Jake for the reply. Freezer door was not left ajar. This problem has been going on for 5 days and the water in the tray is still not frozen. It appears that there is an air tunnel at the top of the freezer compartment that would deliver cold air to the ice maker, is there a fan that pushes cold air to that area?
Thanks
Bill

Ok Bill, That's only on bottom freezer models, yours is a side by side and the ice maker is in your freezer door correct? I see no air tunnel for this model to deliver cold air to the ice maker, because the ice maker and ice storage bin is already located in the freezer door, so you'd expect the freezer to freeze those in the freezer door, when the door is closed.:)

Put a freezer thermometer in the ice maker compartment so we can know what the temperature is.

I removed the bottom cover to check for broken/pinched wires. Didn't really see anything but one area of wires in a thin black tube was severely creased/bent. Tried to work that out and replaced the cover. About 4 hours later ice dropped. Thanks for your help.
