Hello all I have a two year old Kitchenaid fridge with an in door ice maker (model KRFC704FSS01) I’m having trouble trying to cycle the icemaker tray it’s currently in the dump position. The switch is on but I can’t find any info on how to run diagnostics on the tray. I’d like to test it and see if I get fault codes. Before ordering an ice maker. Side note I did change the water filter around a month ago. I did find how to enter diagnostic mode holding the two negative signs on the door panel but after that I’m lost thanks in advance 66630B1B-78AA-4B2E-ADF3-878FB1C72AAF.jpeg

Hi,

I will need to ask our tech bigbuck if he has the tech. data sheet for this model.

But I did locate a service bulletin pertaining to slow/no ice production.

What is the serial number of your refrigerator?

Thanks!

Serial Numbers: K80-present

--->Possible Concern: The in-door ice maker may stop working, or work intermittently. The customer may report low or no ice production.

--->Cause: The Fill Tube Heater may be inoperable due to broken wire. This may lead to a full or partial freezing of the fill tube creating a no water fill or low water fill of the ice tray.

Verify:
1. Visually Inspect Fill Tube for icing
2. Visually Inspect Fill Tube Heater Wires for breakage, or wear - if broken wire is found proceed to step 4.
3. Ohm out Fill Tube Heater Wire (53 - 61 ohms)
a. If out of range Fill Tube with Heater Kit will need to be installed.
Proceed to step 4 to check for control functionality.
4. Put Refrigerator into Service Diagnostic Mode and activate Test # 66.
a. Check Voltage at terminal in Ice Maker Housing for >=12VDC.
This is to confirm operation of the Control.
b. If proper voltage is not found additional testing and parts may be required.
5. If functionality of the control is confirmed proceed with correction.

Here's the Fill Tube with Heater Kit for your model: W11366500

Correction: Replace Fill Tube with Heater
1. The Fill Tube with Heater kit will come with a push-in Christmas Tree Clip and zip tie. This will secure the heater wire to the back wall.
2. The technician must drill a hole according to instructions provided in the kit.
a. A template will be included in the Fill Tube with Heater kit.
b. The template will have a locating feature that must be cut out to align in back of Ice Maker Cavity.
3. Technician must remove any labels on the heater wires.
4. Put a small dab of food grade silicone adhesive on Christmas Tree clip and insert into drilled hole.
5. Secure Heater Wires to Christmas Tree Clip with Zip Tie. Do not overtighten.
6. Verify Functionality after repair.
a. Run Service Test # 66 - Verify heater is functional (6.1 watt)

I'm attaching your tech. data sheet and Fill Tube with Heater Kit service bulletin below. That will show you how to do Test #66.

Hello again Jake hope all is well during these strange times. Well I’m still at it. Did the service bulletin on the heater / filler tube. When executing the 120 service test. It stops in the “02 moving clockwise to end of harvest location” my question is how do I select the “execute step 4”?

That's very odd, I don't see how to execute Step 4. It doesn't say.

Here's the ice maker for your model:

It seems like the ice maker is bad, but I can't be sure since these instructions are vague.

Just thought I’d follow up. Ordered the ice maker and it passed all the functions on test 120 and got a Passed all. Worked out without calling a tech thanks again for the great info.
much appreciated.
