I have read several posts about similar issues with this model freezing up the evaporator coil in the freezer. I have followed all the tips and checks from those posts. Service test 6 checks out ok. Left it engaged on result 3 and defroster is definitely working. Fan was running (making noise when fan was hitting ice). Service test 38 engages defrost with Sh option. Evap thermistor test had 01 pass. I saw where someone had an issue with the drain being clogged. I removed the drain line from the rear and ensured it was open, but as I have been defrosting there is no water going to the pan underneath. Assuming the line inside is clogged. Could that be causing the evaporator coil to frost over?

Now getting water into pan underneath. Must have just been frozen up inside the freezer compartment. Almost completely defrosted at this point. I guess I will run it and see if it frosts over again. Is there anything on the board than can be checked to ensure it is functioning properly?

Hi,

Since the defrost heater and defrost thermistor both test good, then the problem is the main control board.

Look at this thread:

Your model uses the exact same main control board.

Here's the main control board for your model:

Yes, it should fix it.:)

I have completed all these steps, except Defrost heater line never gets warm in Test 6 or 38, replaced with new heater and still never gets warm

Unable to remove the evaporator behind pantry box. Removed 2 screws and did some defrosting with heat gun. also cooling tower attached 2 it wont come off. I am afraid to use to much force. Is there a trick to it? I have searched for videos that are model specific. All I find is when they are already removes. TIA. NM. Got it out. 2 screws on the coil cover were hidden behind the tower above it. Tower wouldn't come out because roof inside fridge was blocking it. I had to use a lot of pressure to push roof up and even more pressure on the tower pulling it out from top. That revealed the 2 hidden screws. Now I will start diagnosing. Fane was replaced already just 3 weeks ago. Same issue returned. I am not a tech. I paid someone to do it. I advised them same trouble is back. I paid about $300. Not so much as a call back from him. I am left to my own on this.
