Hi,

Our refrigerator Kitchen Aid KRMF706ESS01 is not cooling. I tested the temperature and it's around 59 F but the freezer seems to be fine. I tried to look upon how to diagnose the problem but could not. I really appreciate any help.

thanks.

Hi,

Do you hear the FRESH FOOD EVAPORATOR FAN MOTOR running in your refrigerator section?

If not: Then pull your refrigerator out from the wall and remove the cover over the main control board, then on the main control board P14-3(YELLOW) and P14-4(RED) are the wires to the R(refrigerator)C(compartment) EVAP FAN MOTOR. If you are getting 12.7 Volts DC then your problem is the FRESH FOOD EVAPORATOR FAN MOTOR.

Here's the FRESH FOOD EVAPORATOR FAN MOTOR for your model you can order:
Evaporator Fan Motor W11087438

To access it: Look at page 5-9 and 5-10 here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/s5wx9d9xppw3wry/R-114 JOB AID W10444924.pdf?dl=0

It will show you how, you may have to remove the Air Tower and the Deli Drawer first, Deli Drawer removal is on 5-7 and 5-8.

Let us know what you find.

Jake

Hi Jake, I removed the connector from the board and checked the voltage on the board pins (3 and 4). It’s not showing anything. Please help.

Ive had a similar problem. Mine was icing up then wouldn’t cool below 45. I replaced the evaporator fan motor W11087438. Still wont go below 40 to 45 degrees. Freezer is working fine.
any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Chris, do you have the exact same model number KRMF706ESS01 ?

The model number tag is located inside the refrigerator section on the upper walls or ceiling.

Yes sorry same model. Fan runs coil temp will get down to 19 degrees If you select max cold. Just doesn’t seem like it runs long enough. Ran it through the diagnostics and passed all the test
thanks

Then you will need to replace the main control board I posted the link to in post #4 above.

Hey Jake, I am having the same symptoms as the other posters here on the same model fridge. Attempting to test for voltage at the main board. Can you clue me in on specifically to test? I pulled the connectors. My voltmeter is set on VDC. Where should i place the red lead and black lead in order to test for voltage on pin 3 and pin 4? I have not seen any voltage when trying so far.

Service Test - 39 RC Evap Thermistor
• The board will check the resistance value of the thermistor and display the results on the Temp Display.
(01 = Pass, 02 - Open, 03 = Short.

You have a short in the RC Evap Thermistor, it only comes with the new RC fan motor.

I replaced the fan and reassembled. Test 39 displays - 01 - Pass. I haven't noticed the fan kick on, but i am not sure if i will be able to?
Are there any other tests I can run to ensure this has solved the issue? (Already reassembled fridge)
