Dear refrigerator fixer geniuses!

Please, please, I need help!
I just inherited a side-by-side KitchenAid refrigerator, model number is KRSC503ESS00, went through all your threads and videos, because with the freezer side working perfectly, the refrigerator side only works when it wants to. I was told that the condenser has been replaced, and I have just replaced the thermistor. Nothing changes, the refrigerator is at over 60°.
Please please please could you tell me what my next step should be? I am at my wits end.

There is a evaporator fan motor in the refrigerator section, do you hear that running? Foam housing part# W11098695, it comes with the evaporator fan motor too.

But unfortunately, I couldn't locate the service manual or any video's that show you how to remove and replace it.

I haven't removed one of these as of yet on this model, or I could tell you how, sorry.

Another person had this same issue and this is what I mentioned to him:

Hi Jake
Thank you so much for your message!!!! I remember that there is a little fan attached to the styrofoam cover, saw it when I replaced the thermistor. I will check in the morning if I can hear the fan run. It’s so weird. It cools for a few days and then stops for about a week. Freezer is fine. And there was no ice on the coils in the fridge.
Thank you so much again!!!! I will keep learning about refrigerator parts😀😀😀

You are my true heroes!!
It’s the weirdest thing. This morning I checked and the fridge was cooling. But I can’t put anything in it, it may stop cooking next week😳😳
And I can hear the little fan behind the styrofoam cover.
So what else could it be now?
Any idea?? I’m ready to replace the next part of this crazy fridge!!!!!!

That refrigerator evaporator fan motor maybe working intermittently.

When its running--->See if your getting power to the refrigerator evaporator fan motor, you can use a multimeter and take the volt readings from the main control board, which is located in the back of your refrigerator after you pull it out from the wall you will see a access panel that covers it, just remove that access panel then you will see it.

Here's the main control board for your model:

On the main control board, At the wire harness connector labeled P14 pin 3(blue wire) and pin 4(gray) you should be getting 14 volts DC

If your getting 14 volts DC at those pins and the fan in the refrigerator section is NOT running, then its bad.

The evaporator fan motor in the refrigerator section, inside the Foam housing part# W11098695, it comes together as a complete assembly.:)

Like I mentioned above, I couldn't locate the service manual or any video's that show you how to remove and replace it.

I haven't removed one of these as of yet on this model, or I could tell you how, sorry.

Thank youuuuuuuu so much!!!
If I remember correctly it seemed like one piece, the styrofoam cover with that little fan. It came off together when I replaced the thermistor. I just didn’t know the little motor is in there as well. I promise I will go exploring tomorrow 😀😀😀

Good morning!
I’m so sorry, you’re probably gonna think I’m completely stupid, but am I doing the right thing here? Could you please check the pictures? What do I do now?

holding one test lead to each pin on the board gives me 0 volts……
Was the compressor and condenser fan(next to the compressor) running, and freezer fan running when you got 0 volts?

Wow!!!! 🤩🤩🤩
I did get 14 volts!!!!!! But now the stubborn thing is running!!!!!!

I’ll have to do it again. Just to make sure I get everything right😀😀
Now this crazy refrigerator is cooling. Next week probably not. Any idea what else it could be? Should I order this part, the Styrofoam cover with the little fan?

Usually its that Styrofoam cover with the little fan if your voltage to it is correct.

Oh, thank you!!! I guess I’ll order it then. Do you have any idea where I can find the part number?
I just wanted to tell you again I’m so thankful! I’m learning a lot here and maybe I can get this thing running one day!
