• ** REMEMBER! **The microwave can still shock you even unplugged!!

ALWAYS discharge the high-voltage capacitor first if you even think your hands will come close to any HIGH VOLTAGE components.

Jeff mentions this: Anything in the high voltage ( magnetron, capacitor, diode, wires to and from ):
...Use a metal ( not the shiny chrome type ) screw driver with a insulated handle to short across ( touch both at the same time ) the terminals of the high voltage capacitor to discharge it.

Our Frigidaire LFMV1645TF microwave died in the middle of useage.
Breaker didn’t trip, the outlet is fine.
I’m wondering if it’s just the fuse inside blowing.
Can I just replace the fuse here or do I need a new microwave?

Hi,

House fuse.
House breaker.
Fuse inside the microwave.
Thermostat inside the microwave (esp if someone has burnt food).

It is #34 in the parts breakdown. Top front grill comes off to access that area.

i put a new fuse in. It was working fine but then my wife was cooking popcorn, opened the door WITHOUT hitting 'stop' and it blew the fuse and tripped the breaker.
The obvious answer here is 'well, don't do that,' and I've advised my wife to hit the 'stop' button from now on so as to rule that out. But she swears she's done this before (opened the door while still running) a million times with no problems.
Is it the door opening during running? Or do I need to explore other causes?

Is it the door opening during running?

Normally not an issue.

Or do I need to explore other causes?

Yes, door switch or door switch mechanism issues.

Q - My microwave went dead when I opened the door ( same problem as closed the door ).

A - This often is a stuck or faulty door switch and it has blown the interior microwave fuse.

Door switch part help.
