Hi all.

I've got an LG LFXS28968S/02 that's maybe 4 years old. The refrigerator seems to be fine but the freezer is only 32°.

I've cleaned the coils and the coil fan is running.

What's the first, next thing I should look at?

Thanks!

OP here.

I should also add that the compressor is running and I'm getting error code 22. Also, the fridge, while cool, it's only 45°

Is there a chance this is a bad compressor relay?

Thanks.

No, because the compressor wouldn't be running, since the compressor is running its good.

Do you have frost build-up on the back panel inside freezer?

Thanks Jake.

The problem now is finding someone to fix it. After being on the phone with LG for an hour, they gave me a list of three companies to service it and all three get horrible reviews. One doesn't even replace compressors because it takes too long and they're short staffed.

I'm thinking of calling a local guy who people like a lot. From what I understand, I can still get the compressor free and just pay for labor.

Yes, I know what you mean.

OP here.

I finally called LG again and they hooked me up with an LG tech - not an independent place. He came out and replaced the compressor and said he upgraded the software that causes this issue??? I've got my doubts about that, but hey, I've got a working fridge.

It took him 90 minutes and didn't cost me a dime.

BTW, the fridge was built 3 years and 7 months ago for a reference to anyone having this problem.

Thanks all.

Yes, they are suppose to do the software update when they change the compressor, but from my understanding its a upgrade for the new compressor, not the cause of the original compressor going out.

Glad to hear your back in business.(y)

Thanks for the update!

OP again. I just wanted to say that my original plan to call local techs with good reps went up in flames (not literally).
I called two local guys who got rave reviews on Facebook and both said that they don't do refrigeration repairs anymore. Weird.

But LG fixed it under warranty, so I've got to give them kudos!

OP here. I just wanted to post the latest on my fridge.

It stopped cooling for the third time in a month and has been declared dead. The guy replaced the compressor, condenser, evaporator, and dryer. It was still leaking. He has over 8 hours into it.

I've got a case number and will either get an RA for another one (refurbished most likely), or a check for the prorated price.

Does anyone know if the prorated price will be the same as the depreciated price? From what I see, depreciation is 6.67% per year. Is that what they base the prorate on?

Also, I'm thinking of going with a Whirlpool. What would you get???

Thanks!

That's a good question, but I don't know.

Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Amana are all good.
