Hi all, I have an LG LFXC22526S fridge that we have had for around 3 1/2 years, and has worked great until now. Our bottom freezer ice maker (not the upper door one, just replaced that for a different issue!) over the last few months has started a process where it will make a few batches of ice, and then it will get to a point where it tries to dump the ice out, thinks it has dumped the ice which is still stuck in the tray, and then will try to refill the ice tray (which is already full) leading to it overflowing with water and filling up the ice bucket with water, which then freezes and turns to a block of ice. Rinse, repeat.
I've attached a photo of a particularly bad batch where we were out of the house for the full day and came back to it having done its trick at least 10 times while we were gone, but usually we catch it within 1 or 2 cycles and get it taken care of.
Around 2 months ago I took the assembly out and gave it a good vinegar soak to get the calcification out of the tray which I thought may have been causing the issue, we have also kept a scoop in there which I thought may have been a cause as well, both of these would help for a week or two then the same issue would occur. I gave it another clean last night but this morning after 1 batch of ice and with nothing in the ice bucket it did its trick and overflowed the ice tray.
I'm wondering if there is a better solution than just simply replacing the assembly with the AEQ72909602/3/4 replacement part, or if that will even solve the problem? Thanks in advance!
