• ** REMEMBER! **The microwave can still shock you even unplugged!!

ALWAYS discharge the high-voltage capacitor first if you even think your hands will come close to any HIGH VOLTAGE components.

Jeff mentions this: Anything in the high voltage ( magnetron, capacitor, diode, wires to and from ):
...Use a metal ( not the shiny chrome type ) screw driver with a insulated handle to short across ( touch both at the same time ) the terminals of the high voltage capacitor to discharge it.

I have an LG microwave LMV2031 that is only 3 years old. On the last use it was louder than normal and now it does not heat. I went through LG troubleshoot - everything else works fine keypad, timer, lights etc. and it sounds likes its working... but what good is a microwave if it doesn't heat anything?

LG Warranty only covers the magnetron but its $90 just to have service come out, not including hourly rate to fix and they said other parts would be needed so could be $300-$400 (and may not even be the magnetron.)

Is there something else I could check that is not on LG troubleshoot such as a fuse or is it just time to buy a new microwave?

Hi,

How much is a new microwave in your area?
Is the colour you have available?

$300-400 for a new microwave and yes stainless is available. But after this not sure I’d buy LG again.

Est repair cost the same as a new one = happy shopping time!

Your complaint does sound magnetronish for sure.
