Hi,

That indicates a sealed system problem when it does that and usually its the compressor that has worn out. You can check your owners manual warranty, some models have up to a 10 yr. warranty on the compressor.

Yes, LG has had major problems with their compressors/sealed systems.

Thanks for everyone's help. I got the freezer fixed. The compressor was out of refrigerant because there was a leak in the system. Since I was out of warranty, LG wanted me to pay $125 diagnostic fee plus parts and labor. But they said they would not charge for the compressor if it was the problem. They told me it could be around $700 or more. I asked them for a list of their local repair companies, and I called them myself. The repair guy originally told me $600. But after he came out and tested everything, he charged me $400. I was cool with that. He gave me a 120-day warranty on his repair. He also said that if it stops freezing again for any reason that has to do with the sealed system inside the freezer, he will refund me $200. Two hours later, the freezer was really cold. This morning the ice maker was full of ice. :). The picture I attached is the part that was leaking in two different spots.
