LFXS27466S /00 model (LG) - water flows into ice maker, ice freezes solid, but will not cycle to dump ice. Pressing reset button will cycle ice maker and cause ice to dump; it then refills tray with water, which will eventually freeze but not cycle to dump ice. Checked the "ice bin full" sensors to be sure they are cleaned and clear. Recently had LG repair technician replace compressor due to lack of cooling; that problem is resolved. Ice maker worked perfectly prior to compressor change out. Temperatures are set to 35F for refrigerator and -4F for freezer.

Did you actually verify the freezer temp with a Realtime freezer thermometer?

If you don't have freezer thermometer you can get the RED Liquid or digital freezer thermometer. Walmart, Target sells them usually at about 10 dollars and they last a lifetime.

If the freezer and ice maker are at about 0 degrees F it should make ice very well, LIKE it did before he replaced the compressor.:)

I'm going to get a thermometer to check the actual temperature, but I just noticed anything in the freezer on the upper tray isn't solid frozen (ie., ice cream is soft). Obviously, it's not as cold as the temperature is set to (-4F). Since it's still under the 90 warranty from the compressor change out a couple of weeks ago, LG is coming out tomorrow to see what the issue is.

Will report back on the resolution.

Follow up to this issue for anyone that might benefit: Thermometer placed inside freezer compartment showed unit not able to reach the desired temperature. LG Tech came out and found the unit was overcharged on refrigerant. Tech serviced. Will wait 24 hours to see how unit works.

Ok, yes that would do it then.

Yes, let us know in 24 hours how its doing.:)

Update: Almost 24 hours after unit serviced by LG technician, and the temperature is holding exactly as set for both the refrigerator and freezer sections. Ice maker is now making ice like it should. Again, for the benefit of anyone having similar issues, the unit's compressor and evaporator assembly was replaced by an LG Tech about two weeks ago. Although the unit was cooling, it was not reaching the temperature it was set to, leaving some items in the upper part of the freezer (tray) less than solid frozen and the ice maker would not dump ice. The water in the ice maker would freeze, although it took a long time to do so. Pressing the test button on the ice maker would cause the ice maker to cycle and dump ice, but it would not do so on its on except maybe once each day.

The issue was the first technician overcharged the unit with refrigerant. This caused the evaporator coil to freeze up at the top part of the coil; it was covered in ice. The drier filter was also cold and restricted.

This made me a believer that the ice maker can still make ice but not harvest if the temperature is not low enough. Hope this helps anyone with similar issues.

Glad that was all it was.(y)

Thanks for the update and added information you posted!
